Steve Jobs Blasts Teacher Unions

Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs lambasted teacher unions today, claiming no amount of technology in the classroom would improve public schools until principals could fire bad teachers.

Although it may be time consuming and expensive, poor teachers are removed following a well-defined process that determines what "bad" actually is. Accordingly, the rights of the school district and the teacher are balanced with neither one having the upper hand. In other words, it’s based on documented facts and not just the opinions of a powerful organization or individual. Teachers are removed for cause: It's a misconception to imply otherwise.

I noticed Mr. Jobs did not say how many millions of dollars it takes to remove poorly performing CEOs. Teachers and the average worker don't receive "golden parachutes."
